I was so excited to get the third book. I pre-ordered it as soon as I finished the second book. The story had me captured up until the last few chapters. The ending was horrible. I don't want to spoil anything for the readers, so I won't give too many details. But I was disappointed in the outcome and while it's not as bad as Allegiant, it ranks a close second. After you spend all this time falling for these characters and their story, it seems like a waste with this ending.

I had a hard time getting into Stolen Songbird but once I had made it past the start it began to flow. Hidden Huntress was a well paced book and enjoyable however I had the spoilers figured out in the first part of the book. But this book could have been so much in the hands of a real author. Instead lazy,sloppy and what felt quite forced was what came out of this book. The ending was ridiculous if I hadn't downloaded it for my kindle I would have chucked the "book" across the room. Make up your own ending and don't waste your time you will be sorely disappointed.
All I can say is that the third book in this trilogy was truly a stand-out. The search for and battle with Anushka, alongside the conflation of all of these different lives coming together from all the "worlds" explored in previous books, is very gripping. There was so much heartache in this book, without being depressing... Jensen somehow found a way for her main characters to "have it all" in beautiful and meaningful ways. A stunning conclusion to a really epic trilogy.
Ok - so this series was fine I suppose. My biggest problem with it was the romantic relationship. It seemed super adorable in the first book - tapered off a bit in the second - and was almost completely absent in the third. The actual war strategy piece was interesting, and it had a very well-thought-out ending - but I can't help but be super disappointed in the relationship. I actually think I stopped liking both of them (more so Tristan) at various points throughout the story. Ugh. Could have been way better.
The first book in this trilogy was incredible. It was unique and fired your imagination. The second was okay. This one was one long battle scene in the style of The Hobbit series and the last Harry Potter book. I personally hate that and perhaps that colors my review. Everything I admired about the first book was systematically destroyed in this one. It did have an unexpected ending that lifted it form one to two stars for me.
Like the other two books in this trilogy, you instantly feel yourself brought back into this world, into the plight of Cecile, Tristan, and the others. So much happens that in this book that I often caught myself thinking "Is this the end?!" Wonderfully complex rich plot that pulls you into the world. The characters are so multidimensional and genuine. You can't help but feel as they feel and start seeing their world has something to fit for. Thankfully Jensen lets us into Cecile's and Tristan's thoughts because you will really find that you are torn by their plight of saving those they love but at the expense of how many innocent lives. I hope you too well find yourselves pulled in to their story, crying with tears of sadness and joy
Sigh, the end of a great series. I envy everyone who has the chance to read the whole thing through without stopping! I also purchased the audio book so I could enjoy my commute, but I must say I found the audio fell a little flat. The male and female readers disagreed on how to pronounce the names of characters and places which threw me out of the story at times. Also the man had a flat affect throughout. The story itself was great! Since you are reading this you would probably enjoy The Crown of Tremontane series by Melissa McShane or the Air Awakens series by Elise Kova or The Storm Siren Trilogy by Mary Webber or Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson.
4.5 stars. It would've been 4 stars, but those last few chapters gutted me (in a good way). I really liked the overall plotline, but there were some things that didn't completely settle with me.

When I opened the book, I really wasn't sure what to expect (in terms of plot), because the ending of Hidden Huntress created utter chaos (wonderfully). As mentioned before, as much as I loved the book in general, there were some bits that bored me a little. Although those bits weren't too bad, and the slight boredom only lasted for short periods of time. Starting from the end of Hidden Huntress, Cecile has finally defeated Anushka. But in doing so, she released the trolls from their curse, along with the fey courts. While organizing the panicked humans, Tristan and Cecile still must defeat enemies who want to take complete power.

So I start reading, and Cecile and Tristan interact with all sorts of people (using the term very loosely). Strategies and politics are discussed. Admittedly, the politics discussions were the parts that bored me. Those people interactions were the interesting parts, and they occurred so frequently that I was able to tolerate the politics pretty well.

This isn't as much of a complaint as it is an observation, but some moments that I thought would've been significant and earth-shattering were somehow...anti-climatic? I'm not sure that's the right word. For example, the interaction between Cecile, Tristan, and Thibault happened so fast, and what happened to Thibault at the very end was so unexpected that it seemed unbelievable. The disbelief also applied to the eventual fates of Roland and Angouleme. I guess it did effectively add to the shock and suspense, though...which is why this isn't really a complaint.

The story was very twisty and clever, and some things happened that I never could've predicted, which is a good factor. But the ending tops it all off...before the very last chapter, during the third-to-last and second-to-last chapters, I was completely shocked. I had been dreading this possibility of this tiny suspicion in the back of my head after a certain event before this, but I didn't ever seriously believe it would happen. Because it seemed like all was happy and well...but I suppose that was the calm of the storm. Those few chapters before the last chapter nearly horrified me, and I was thinking to myself There had better be a good reason for this. Otherwise, that's a star or two deducted for this unreasonable thing happening. But, lo and behold, the last chapter changed the horror to a bittersweetness; the absurdness to a brilliant logic, and rather than deducting stars, I added one just for the amazing ending.

If you've already read Stolen Songbird and Hidden Huntress, then I strongly encourage you to finish the trilogy with Warrior Witch! Its ingenious plot and action make it to be very entertaining besides the politics, but if you're someone who is interested in discussions of politics and strategies, then all the more reason to read it!

Oh, and if you haven't read the previous books in the series yet, then I am seriously questioning your decision to expose yourself to all these major spoilers.
